What is the Virginia Bonding Program?
The Virginia Bonding Program provides insurance to an employer to protect them against loss from embezzlement, larceny, forgery, or theft.
The policy is good for up to $15,000 for 6 months at no cost to the employer or to the employee. It is an easy process for the employer to receive the bond, requiring only a quick phone call with minimal
information needed.
Who is eligible to be bonded?
Any person with a conviction, whether it's a felony or a misdemeanor, is able to be bonded. It does not matter the type of offense that they have a conviction for. There is no incarceration requirement. They can be from any date or age. Juvenile records and convictions are okay. Any conviction location is okay. So, an out of state conviction is okay. You just need to be working within the state of Virginia.
Who is not able to be bonded?
Any owner or self-employed person cannot be bond bonded?
The work site must be in Virginia. It cannot be bonded if your work site is in another state. And you cannot be bonded if you do not have a conviction. Pending charges are only allowed if you have a prior conviction.
