A Peer Recovery Specialist walks beside others who are navigating the same struggles I once faced — offering understanding, hope, and guidance born from lived experience. It’s about creating a safe space without judgment, where people can be honest about their pain, their progress, and their purpose.
Peer Recovery Specialists don’t lead from a place of authority — we lead from experience, from empathy, and from evidence that recovery is not just possible, but sustainable. As a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in the state of Virginia, I have been thriving in long-term recovery from poly-substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges since January 2017. Since 2020, I’ve served with a behavioral health and MAT/SU outpatient team at a local Community Service Board, facilitating WRAP and APPR groups and holding space for people of all ages and walks of life — from church groups and youth camps to jail ministries.
I’ve been honored to share my story and message of hope with organizations including AA, NA, Celebrate Recovery, and Good News Jail Ministry. Beyond my professional work, I’m also a passionate event planner, having hosted two successful recovery concerts with more than 300 attendees and resource partners — because recovery is worth celebrating!
Today, as an active member of RASAP and the Harm Reduction Committee, I continue to advocate for recovery, mental health awareness, and community connection. My mission is to always be a voice of hope, using both my lived experience and professional training to help others see that recovery is not only possible — it’s powerful.
You can expect a lot of communication and connection.
As your Peer Recovery Specialist, I’ll walk beside you — not ahead of you — through every stage of your journey. I’ll share parts of my own lived experience to show you that recovery is possible, no matter where you’re starting from.
Together, we’ll:
Peer recovery coaching isn’t about telling you what to do — it’s about walking with you as you discover your own path to healing and freedom.

The length of a Peer Recovery program depends entirely on the individual and their personal goals. Everyone’s recovery journey looks different — some people may work with a Peer Specialist for a few months, while others may continue for a year or longer.
Progress is not measured by time, but by growth, connection, and stability.
At See Thru Recovery, support continues for as long as it’s helpful, and the pace is always guided by you — your needs, your goals, and your readiness for the next steps.
