The Madeline Centre (TMC) has provided outpatient behavioral health and addiction counseling services for over 20 years. As opioid-related deaths continue to skyrocket in Virginia, we’ve seen the need for Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services (ARTS) intensify. TMC met that need by expanding their treatment offerings to include ARTS in early 2017.
Services offered include early intervention, case management, outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization services for clients dealing with chemical and behavioral addictions. TMC has partnered with a local buprenorphine-licensed physician to provide Medication Assisted Therapy alongside the clinical services.
TMC also helps at risk youth! Is your student struggling at school or maybe at home as well? They may be unable to focus; they may be easy to anger and possibly become aggressive. They’re depressed, withdrawn or they are constantly a distraction in their classroom. That’s where The Madeline Centre can help. The staff of highly trained Qualified Mental Health Professionals, under the supervision of licensed therapists, is there in the school ready to intervene if needed, able to work with the student to learn to how to cope and manage their stress and behaviors in the classroom.

We serve women— daughters, sisters, wives and mothers—who need structure and professional support in early recovery to build a solid basis for sustained sobriety.
The Women’s Home addresses the special needs of women, with a focus on lifestyle changes. By accepting boundaries and personal responsibility, residents put in place new attitudes and new ways of living, transforming their liabilities into assets. Residents learn tools to stay sober and how to “live life on life’s terms.” It is one of the few such programs licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
We are based on a strategy of accountability to structure, accepting guidance from staff and cultivating healthy relationships with women, learning to ask for and accept help. Residents align themselves with successful women in the recovery community, who have sustained long-term sobriety. With this new-found resource, residents recognize where they are at risk of relapsing and maintain the motivation to change their behavior.

The WAR Foundation has been operating Virginia Association of Recovery Residence (VARR) certified recovery residences since 2017.
Currently we have 36 women’s beds and 64 men’s beds for a total of 100 certified recovery residence beds which include Level 3 Intensive houses and level 2 step up houses. The WAR Foundation accepts individuals on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
Together, we are committed to fostering a welcoming environment, providing essential resources, and empowering our community on their recovery journeys. We believe that our collective strength and shared vision make a meaningful impact in the lives we touch. We believe in the power of community, compassion, and resilience. Our core values include respect, inclusivity, and the understanding that recovery is a personal journey that looks different for everyone. We celebrate diversity and welcome individuals from all backgrounds.

Georgia’s Friends was founded in 2006 by a group of friends determined to honor the life and legacy of a woman they loved who lost her battle with alcoholism. Inspired by her journey and the challenges she faced, they created a safe, supportive community where women can heal from substance use disorder, rebuild their lives, and discover lasting hope in recovery.
Their vision was to create a healing house where women could find a supportive living environment, maintain sobriety, and build a new life after treatment or incarceration. Community partners and friends formed a community council to launch the signature initiative of Georgia’s Friends which they called Georgia’s Healing House (now Georgia’s House).
Georgia’s House opened its doors in Charlottesville in September 2015 and continues to provide a safe, structured living environment for women in the early stages of recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction. Our residents now have a place to heal from past trauma and the mental health challenges that often accompany substance use disorders. Our house provides hope through evidence-based recovery models and helps our residents become healthy, self-reliant, and productive members of our community.
