I am a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in the state of Virginia. Since 2017, I have been thriving in long-term recovery from poly-substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. In 2020, I felt the call to work professionally, and have served with a behavioral health and MAT/SU outpatient team at a local Community Service Board, ever since. Groups, like WRAP and APPR are where I find all ages, and walks of life, can relate no matter what label they have been given. Therefore my training and experience can be used anywhere, from church groups to youth camps, or treatment centers to CIT law enforcement trainings.
My ability to connect and communicate has helped my purpose in organizations like NA, Celebrate Recovery, and Good News Jail Ministry. I am also a passionate event planner, having hosted two successful recovery concerts with over 300 attendees and resource partners. Recovery communities seem to be missing in smaller or rural areas. I hope to change that narrative. I participate in many aspects of my home church, as well as, RASAP and The Harm Reduction Committee. My goal is to always be a voice of hope in the community through lived experience and professional service, and advocate for the recovery and mental health community so that they continue to have the support and resources they need to be successful.
